The BBB Declarations

There are three major declarations on open access, collectively known as the "BBB" - they differ slightly from one another. The iCommons Rio Declaration on Open Access (link) uses the definition from the Budapest Open Access Initiative, or "BOAI" - but it's worth looking at each in turn. Science Commons and iCommons are signatories to both the BOAI and the Berlin Declaration. The Bethesda Declaration is not open for signatures.
