Purchasing policies

Here is a proposal for an ethical purchasing policy. Its contents are fairly standard, based upon various international conventions and agreements, as well as policies written for organisations as varied as students' unions and major corporations:

Donations and sponsorships

Here is a proposal for a fundraising policy. It is based upon one that I have been involved with in my position on the Management Committee of People & Planet. Some of the details, such as whose responsibility particular jobs and decisions are, need to be filled in; they will probably depend upon the structures that we set-up over the next year. The policy is also close to useless without an accompanying document that states the values of iCommons. Read and all will become clear :) In the meantime it can at least act as a guideline for iCommons staff.

Venue

After initial inquiries we can asssume that the next iSummit might include several venues in the old town:

  • secondary conference and primary performance venue will be the ancient quarantine, Lazareti, where the contemporary art and performance center Art Workshop Lazareti are running cultural programs and artist residencies. The space can fit 200 people sitting and a lot more for concerts. It can also be a potential venue for pre-summit events, should such programs be proposed.
  • also for pre-summit meetings we the facilities of Inter-University Center can be used. They have a number of smaller conference rooms that can fit 15-30 people and a larger conference room that can fit up to 200 people.

Travel

For initial planning you can refer to Wikitravel Dubrovnik webpage. One should note that there are regular flights operated by major airlines connecting Dubrovnik from many European hubs and a number of budget airlines flying from European cities to Dubrovnik or alternatively Split (which is 5 hours by bus from Dubrovnik).
